3/19/08: Paralegal - Real Estate

DLA Piper, a leader in the practice of law worldwide, seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with the excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with staff, attorneys, clients and outside vendors. The ideal candidate will have the strong project managements skills required to handle large volumes of work associated with each matter, case or transaction, and will work well under deadlines. A minimum of 5 years of Real Estate Paralegal experience required in addition to a BA/BS Degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate. Experience with legal software, as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, is also required.

Under the supervision of attorneys, prepares drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence. Compiles, analyzes and summarizes information. Coordinates due diligence, document drafting ,and closings with attorneys, paralegals, and opposing counsel. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting transactional documents, including purchase agreements, loan documents, and correspondence
  • Conducting due diligence in connection with closings, including zoning and building code due diligence; review of leases and other documents
  • Advanced title and survey review and analysis, and resolving title and survey issues
  • Working directly with title companies and surveyors to negotiate title coverage, scope of survey work, and resolving related issues
  • Reviewing organizational and LLC, partnership and corporate documents, and occasionally forming LLC’s, partnerships and corporations in Delaware, local jurisdictions and elsewhere
