Programs:
The Paralegal Certificate Program consists of 3 parts:
Day
Program (Lasts approximately 8 weeks):
Weeks 1, 2 & 3
You will have classes 2 times per week FROM 9:00-5:00.
WEEK 1 and WEEK 3 on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-500.
WEEK 2 is for you to study and do your Memo Assignments.
All classes will be fewer than 15 students. This format provides an excellent nurturing environment and encourages the student to take the time to more deeply understand the material. You will be given homework assignments which will include, among other things, researching and writing. The specific subject areas of the law you will be taught can be found under the Courses section of our website.
Weeks 4 - 5
You will have Independent Study Projects which you will complete at your own pace. These assignments will include, among other things, going to court, researching and writing papers, and participating in a mock interview.
Weeks 6 - 8
You will be assigned to a law firm for an internship. During your studies at PIW you will create a list of the types of law firms in which you might wish to work. You will be placed in that type of firm, or one close to it, for a 120 hour internship. This internship may be full-time or part-time, depending on your availability.
Note
We strongly recommend that students complete an unpaid
internship at the end of the classroom and research
sections but offer a project-based program for students
who are unable to complete an internship for financial
or scheduling reasons.

Evening
Program (Lasts approximately 20 weeks):
Weeks
1 - 8
You
will have classes once a week, on Monday evenings. All
classes will be fewer than 20 students. Classes are
intense, and Power Point is used as a guidance tool.
This format provides an excellent nurturing environment
and limits the students' stress over not understanding
a particular subject. You will be given homework assignments
and independent study assignments out of the classroom.
These assignments will include, among other things,
researching and writing. The specific topics you will
be taught can be found under the Courses section of our website.
Independent Study Project: At Your Pace
You will have independent study assignments
out of the classroom. These assignments will include,
among other things, going to court and watching a trial,
researching and writing papers, and participating in
a mock interview.
Internship: 120 Hours
You will be assigned to a law firm for an internship.
During your studies at PIW you will create a list of
the types of law firms in which you might wish to work.
You will be placed in that type of firm, or one close
to it, for a three-week internship. This internship
may be full-time or part-time, depending on your availability.
Note
We
strongly recommend that students complete an unpaid
internship at the end of the classroom and research
sections but offer a project-based program for students
who are unable to complete an internship for financial
or scheduling reasons.
